Introduction: Littering is Not Good

Litter is a common thing around Utah and I think that it is not good. Littering is known to not be good for the environment. One of the most littered items, cigarette butts, are not healthy for humans and also cause tons of fires. In the streets we have large objects obstructing drivers and causing crashes. In the oceans we have large amounts of plastic causing the fish to die and also ending up in drinking water in the form of microplastics. Overall its just not good. This magazine is written to educate people on the harms of littering and how it can be stopped.

As a topic, I’ve always hated littering in how it shows mankind’s footprint on the world as we let plastic and other materials fill up in the spaces they shouldn’t be. Plastic is especially important since its non biodegradable. This means that over thousands of years it will not return to the earth, unlike any materials in nature. This is not good for the environment. I also just feel disgusted when I see people leave food out and other trash at Skyline High School (greatest educational institution on earth).

Highlights

One of my best projects, the Persuasion Effect project is shown as a video displayed in page on my magazine. I think that you as a reader should check it out. It includes many topics that are important to the prevention of littering like the idea of consumerism, the large amounts of garbage, etc. In the persuasion effect project, I filmed the video from inside of the hit game, Minecraft. I built what amounts to a glorified power point presentation in Minecraft, but I spent a lot of time and effort on it, and I think it turned out amazing.

How this should be read

This magazine should be read starting from the narrative effect project. Its a gentle introduction and effectively transitions into the profile effect project. The narrative effect shows the key themes of littering and how it affects me and what it means to me.

After going through the narrative effect, you should check out the profile effect. This is about how it affects people in America and the many individuals that I surveyed. Its a much broader scope than the narrative effect and its embodied in the shift from telling my story to telling the story of the many people in America and their thoughts on littering.

This then should transition into the persuasion effect, clearly my magnum opus of English prowess. This is about what should be done about littering. It starts off by exploring how littering affects the world around us and not just how it affects humans. It uses this to introduce the topic of what we should do about littering.

What should be taken away from this magazine

I made this magazine to show how much of a not good thing littering is. That should be clear by this point. However, I also made this magazine to show that people care about littering and people want to get rid of it. The fight against littering is not a lonely one, there’s many people who are out there trying to stop it.
